Academic Regalia

How and when do I get my regalia?

Orders for academic regalia and other commemorative items for the Class of 2022 began on February, 23, 2022, from the Herff Jones website

Graduates who ordered their regalia by the deadline of 8:59 p.m. PST on March 22 should expect to pick up their orders in late April in the University Bookstore.

If you are a graduate who missed the "ship to campus" deadline, you have two options:

  1. Order regalia online and select the "ship to home" and pay for shipping
    OR
  2. Wait until May 1 and purchase your regalia in the University Bookstore.

If you believe you are graduating with honors and/or distinction, please verify with your school prior to securing your regalia.

Do I have to wear a cap and gown?

Yes, all graduates are required to wear the academic regalia that is associated with the degree to be conferred upon them at Commencement. If you are receiving a bachelor’s degree, you will wear the traditional black cap and gown. Master’s degree recipients wear a hood in addition to the cap and gown.

Can graduates decorate their caps?

Commencement is a very festive day and many graduates express their excitement by decorating the mortar board, or graduation cap. Decorations should be safe and respectful of other graduates and the guests. Glitter is not permitted inside Weill Hall and caps with glitter will not be allowed in the hall.
