Rain FAQ

Will commencement be canceled if it rains?

No. All commencement ceremonies will be held rain or shine. We suggest checking the weather prior to arriving and dressing accordingly. According to the manufacturers, new gowns may bleed color if they get wet, so we encourage students NOT to wear their best attire under their robes if they expect to be in the rain for extended periods of time. Please note, however, that during the lineup and during the ceremony, graduates will be in covered areas and out of the rain.

Will outdoor seating still be available if it rains?

Yes, outdoor seating will still be available if it rains. We also will have a standby line to fill unclaimed seats inside Weill Hall. Please note there is no guarantee that guests in the standby line will be able to sit in the hall, as open seats are filled as available, first come, first served.

Will umbrellas be allowed?

Guests sitting outside on the lawn are encouraged to bring umbrellas. Guests inside Weill Hall will be invited to check their umbrellas at the coatcheck desk or store them in one of the umbrella bins that will be available in the lobby.

Will the ceremonies be livestreamed?

Yes, all six ceremonies will be streamed live on the commencement webcast site. We encourage family and friends to view the ceremonies with the live webcast.
